Online backup is a commodity and you just can’t charge way more than your competition and not be called out on it. It bugs me that they try to market their exorbitant charges as a feature — they call it the “Simple Rate Plan” and say that it is what sets them apart. If you backup 2GB of data using Data Deposit Box it would cost you $4 a month or $48 a year. Why not just sign up for Mozy or IDrive and get 2GB of free storage. For $4.95/month you could sign up for an unlimited plan from Mozy. I just don’t get it. If I’m missing something please send me an email (go to about page) and help me understand.
